Martyn Haworth

Martyn has a critical and unique balance of a hugely successful hands-on commercial operator, with the skills and processes of an expert coach and trainer. In his early 20’s, Martyn was managing a large out of town superstore for a FTSE 100 retailer going on to become their youngest ever Regional Manager, with responsibility for £180m sales budget and more than 600 employees. His career progressed to Group operational roles including leading a team that delivered significant cultural change. Martyn was then appointed to the Stores Executive Management Team.

Martyn attended Henley Business School to study Retail Management and during his corporate role as Head Performance Coach, he worked on his coaching accreditation with a leading training consultancy in conjunction with Middlesex University. Martyn is currently attending courses on Mindfulness and The 3 Principles to deepen his understanding of psychology and our brain at work.

As well as being an experienced coach, facilitator and trainer, Martyn’s areas of expertise also include Leadership development, change management and balanced scorecard implementation. He has recently consulted for business owners and senior teams on developing their company mission, vision and values, and their strategies for recruitment, induction, training and talent management.

Martyn is a passionate advocate of coaching as sees this as the number one Leadership skill required to raise performance and engagement in business. His approach is often described as challenging and action focused, whilst also being fun and engaging. Martyn believes that the ability to build trust, listen to understand rather than respond, and to be truly present for people in the moment, are our biggest gifts as a coach.

Martyn’s training and coaching experience covers a wide range of sectors, markets and industries from SME’s to large corporate/blue chip organisations, with his work consistently receiving high evaluations and rave reviews.

Outside of work, Martyn is a keen golfer and keeps fit by doing regular circuit training and Pilates sessions. Having recovered from a serious illness over 10 years ago, he is a keen advocate of a healthy work/life balance and actively promotes this with his clients. Running around after his two young children also helps keep him fit!
